Infectious attitudes can spread very quickly!

source
This past week my little boy was sick with a stomach virus.  Knowing that infectious viruses can go through a family like wildfire, I was paranoid about all of us washing our hands (using soap!)  If you have ever raised little boys, you know you have to tell them to use soap when they wash their hands.  Otherwise, they just wet them with the water and call it quits!  I read this on a site that I was surfing through, Sometimes a person is contagious to others even before they start to feel sick. In most cases, it is important that a sick person stays at home so that they do not spread the disease to others.

I have to admit that I thought about myself.  How many times have I taken the disease of disgruntled employee in to work with me and spread it amoung my co-workers?  How many times have I taken the disease of nagging wife into my marriage and been a hindrance instead of a help meet?  How many times have I taken the disease of disapproving mother and destroyed the dreams of my children with a sharp tongue or inattention?  I would like to think that I have never been guilty of any of these, but I have.

So, I am thinking, and bear with me on this one, a attitude of joy and thanksgiving would be a better infectious attitude.  What if I was a eager employee, a helpful wife, and a supportive mother?  Wouldn't that be better for everyone.  My challenge to myself is to be thankful and grateful for everything in my life.  That attitude is one I would love to spread to everyone!

  1. I love this post - it's the law of attraction isn't it? What you think and the way you act is what you attract.

We all should be more conscious of our attitudes - we need more of the laugh and the world laughs with you attitudes.

Cheers, Have a 'happy thinking' weekend

  2. Great post. It's good to be mindful about what attitude we are putting out into the world. :)

  7. So true! We do need to stop and think how our attitudes affect others.

I have always thought that a mother sets the mood for the family.

And if Momma ain't Happy...Ain't nobody Happy!

  8. I had to laugh with Linda (above). I think most Moms know this and you broadened it out a little with your contagion theory.

  9. Susan..I was thinking that your post reminded me of the upbeat blogs on Spark People then I saw that your picture was from Spark People.I thought I had seen it somewhere, lol.Loved your inspiring post.I agree about positive attitudes and I honestly think it gets better as you get older.I was treated with kindness by my mother. She never said a mean word to me and I have always had that in the back of my mind.I do not want to be thought of as a person who says mean words to others.I want to follow in my mother's footsteps.Wish she had been around longer than 25 years of my life but she had a positive influence on me in those 25 years.

  10. Our attitudes are SO contagious. My struggle is in supporting those going through a rough time vs kind of avoiding those that bring me down. Friends are friends for good or bad, but some folks just seem to be toxic.

    Thanks for playing 6WS!
