Remembering My Dad on Father's Day

I had the best father in the whole world.  This picture was made with one of my older brothers.  Wasn't my daddy handsome?  By the way, we all learned to crank and drive that tractor.  I wasn't allowed to drive it by myself but I spent lots of time on that tractor with my daddy.  He died in 1991 and there is not a day that goes by that I don't talk to him or remember something that he told me.  I still feel like he is with me every day.  I wish everyone could have had such a wonderful father!  Happy Father's Day to all men who make a difference in the life of a child.  And, thank you to my husband who is a wonderful father as well!

  4. Hi Susan ~~ I am sooooo glad that you have those nice memories of your dad. Right away your writing and the pictfure reminded me of mine.
Dad's first tractor was a 1938 John Deere Model "B" which I never did crank. You had to turn the flywheel to make it go, there wasn't any crank. I did drive it a lot!
Dad died at age 97 in 2007. I miss him a lot and remember him most every day too.
Happy 6WS! Thank you for this lovely post.

  8. I agree totally with your comment about your dad being handsome - thats the first thing I thought before I even read your words.

I'm sorry he's not around for you to share Fathers Day with him

  9. Yes...your daddy was indeed handsome. I am glad you had such a good childhood, and so many memories of a good daddy!

I grew up without a dad in our home...but I have wonderful memories of my mom who was so special to me! I totally know what you mean about a day not going by that you don't think of your dad! My mom is forever in my heart and mind. Since she went on to heaven over twenty years ago, all of these beautiful memories of her have remained!

  10. I love reading about all the great dads there have been in the world, especially when there are so many complaints about deadbeat dads.

    Lovely post.

  11. I stole a bunch of pictures of my dad when he was a kid. It's nice to have them. Okay, my mom said I could have them, but that was after I took them. Haha! Thanks for stopping by!
