On the Fifth Day of Christmas...

My true love gave to me 5 Golden Coins!

The coins were not for me and we had more than five, but it fits with my theme. The true story is that my brother sent the boys each a roll of dollar coins to spend for Christmas. Since the coins were burning a hole in the boys' pockets, off to Wal-Mart we went. We had stopped at Toys-R-Us yesterday, but they did not see anything they wanted. We had the sweetest cashier this morning who was so nice to each boy as they paid for their purchases. Neither of them liked paying sale tax. Can't say I blame them!

Frosty, the snowman, has arrived

The boys are very proud of their snowman. As you can tell, we did not have very much snow. It was, however, enough to satisfy that primal urge in the boys to build a snowman!

A White Christmas

We experienced the first White Christmas in our area in over 100 years! It was a light snow, 2-4 inches, but beautiful! It started about 5 PM on Christmas day and stopped this morning at about 10 AM.

Why is it that everything looks beautiful with a coat of snow?

Isaiah 1:18: And then come, and accuse me, saith the Lord: if your sins be as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow: and if they be red as crimson, they shall be white as wool.

On the second day of Christmas...

...my true love gave to me 2 happy boys!

Williamsburg and Busch Gardens at Christmas

Thought I would share this scarf that I made for my mother-in-law, Joyce. Dennis picked out the yarn and I crocheted it. I love the way it was self-striping. This is one of my most favorite scarves that I made this year. At last count, I had made 10 scarves for presents. More on that at a later date.

We visited Williamsburg and Busch Garden over our Christmas break. The boys enjoyed Williamsburg but it was so, so cold! I would have taken lots of pictures but it was COLD and my camera battery died.

Notice the stocking caps - courtesy of me! No one wanted to wear the stocking caps but they sure did come in handy and was appreciated by the wearers after being outside for a few hours.

We all roade the carousel, much to the dismay of our children! So funny!

They had live penguins....
The bagpipe music was lovely but I KNOW this poor guy was freezing to death!

Christmas is coming

I decided I really needed to do more for Christmas than just put up a tree. So, yesterday, as I was home for a snow day (which we had NO snow, just ice), I decided to clean and decorate. I tied pretty ribbons to all the candles. Nikolai asked me what was up with all the bows on the candles. *sigh* Silly boy!

Then a nice bow on my glass dome, what do you call these things? I know they have a name.

Bows on some more candles....

And, a bow on the jar candle on the table. I thought all the bows added a nice festive feel to things.

I also made covers for all the pillows in the chairs in the living room. This was a very easy project and took no time at all.

Deniska said he thought our living room was the prettiest room in the house. I agree with him. (Pay no attention to my purse that lives in the chair with the pillow!)
