Goodwill finds
I don't go to our local Goodwill very often. The last thing I need to do is drag more stuff into my tiny home. But, one day last week, I had an urge to visit. So, since I was by myself, I decided to drop by. I am so glad that I did. I really scored on this trip. I bought 2 vintage Pyrex mixing bowls, 2 Vintage Corning Ware Spice of Life Petite Individual Casserole, and this crystal tray. The crystal tray is very heavy and my mother had one just like it! I am thinking all of this came from an estate. And, I only paid $10 for all of it!
I looked on Replacements.com and the Pyrex mixing bowls ( 5.5") are $39.99 each. I am thinking I should listen to my inner voice more often. The bottom bowl is from the 1940's according to its markings on the bottom. It is not numbered and only has ‘T.M. REG.’ in an arch above ‘PYREX’ horizontally in the middle, and ‘U.S. PAT. OFF’ below in an up-facing arch. The top bowl was manufactured somewhere between the later 1950s - 1970s sets. I love them both since they match the color of my kitchen.
It was a good day!

you did good!
ReplyDeletedid you know my Pyrex collection started with a single blue bowl just like your new ones? It was in Jeff's grandparents house catching a drip under the kitchen sink.
Jeff fixed the sink, I cleaned up the bowl and then it became "Dad's bowl" as he ate cereal and ice cream in it.
My mom has Corningware like your pair. They are great for leftovers in the micro or oven.
Wow! Great finds. My mother has a complete set of the Pyrex mixing bowls and, yes, they are very expensive now. I covet them...lol. I think I might have to fight my brothers for them though. :-)
