Easy Living on Hot Summer Days!

Summer means it is too hot to play...

We will just watch Mama on her computer!

(I can't decide if Maxie thinks she is a cat or Oscar thinks he is a puppy!)

Maybe take a nap together....

Maybe share some secrets!

Maybe look at Mama like "I didn't do anything!"

Maybe take another nap - this blogging is tiring!!

Wake us when it's dinner time!

We could sleep on the floor....

All in all, it's a good day!

Thanks for dropping by to spend some time with us!

This and That

I took this picture of Nikolas because he was just so cute and he was cooperating with me. I can't say the same of the rest of my family members who just didn't have time for mama to take a picture of them! That's alright, Nicholas love me!
At school, we had a Veteran's Day program and all my JROTC students wore their uniforms. Aren't they handsome? I am always so proud of them!

The first thing we did this morning at school was to have an earthquake drill! Now, we rarely get earthquakes in our part of the state but I suppose it never hurts to practice!!

And, tonight, Nikolai had to do his chores - sweep the floor and ...
wipe the table. I am not sure what he is using to wipe the table. Hmm....

It's been a fairly uneventful week, which is good. I am looking forward to this weekend when I can catch up on my sleep. I always have a hard time with the time change.

I have the nicest husband…

This morning I had to go to work and Dennis stayed home with the boys. The boys were out of school for a teacher in-service day. He took an annual day to stay home with them. They went in search of a Christmas present for me but since none of them could think of anything that I needed (except for a pair of scissors!), they ended up just eating lunch out. To be honest, I do think Dennis bought my annual charm for my charm bracelet today. They looked for an office chair but couldn't decide on what they wanted.

The best thing he did was to make my bed for me! I had pulled the sheets off this morning to wash before I left for work. I had dreaded all day coming home knowing that I would have to make the bed before tonight. My sweet husband did that for me. Not only did he make the bed, he put on the new quilt that I bought at Belk’s on Saturday. This quilt was marked down 70% and cost way less than what I could have made it. It’s perfect – lightweight and all the colors I love for this time of year.

Thank you, Honey, for making the bed. You are the BEST and I love you!! I know I am the luckiest person in the world!

Sam appreciated the bed being made as well. He loves a freshly made bed! Poor kitty got into a fight yesterday. If he is not better, we will be going to the vet tomorrow!

After I had posted this blog entry, I turned around and Nicholas had made himself comfortable on the bed. Isn’t he sweet?

New Year's Resolution

Dennis took the boys to Home Depot this morning for their monthly work shop. This week, they made calendars. Aren't these cute? Both boys made one but Deniska was the only one who showed me the finished project. So, I made a picture of him. He was proud of it, as was I. I am also proud of their daddy for taking them to these workshops. He is such a good daddy. He has kept them busy the last 2 weeks. They are going to miss spending time with him when we all go back to school and work.

I think this says it all!

Sam

This is Sam. He is the sweetest cat and is just a gentle giant. Of course, he likes to help me fold clothes and put away things by sleeping on the clothes. I caught him cat napping and thought I would snap his picture.

Today is housecleaning day. We went to Mass last night so I could spend the day cleaning inside today. I am so not looking forward to doing housework. Still, I am so thankful that I have a home filled with loved ones who mess it up! It's a small price to pay.

Psalms 113:9
He gives the childless wife a home, the joyful mother of children. Hallelujah!

Other uses for printer

My printer (that is not compatible with my Vista) is now being used as a cat bed by Molly. She turns it on and makes copies (usually multiple copies) and scans things. She always looks surprised as if to say, "Did I do that?" She is my constant companion when I am working at the computer. She is really Nikolai's cat but she prefers me in the evenings.

At least I am glad the printer is being used for something!

Lessons from cats

Be comfortable when you lay down by the cat food. It could be a long wait!

If someone is ignoring you, look cute to get their attention!

Fat Cat! Happy Cat!

This is Molly, Nikolai's kitten. She will be a year old in May (we think.) Molly is a one person cat. She will allow Nikolai to do anything he wants to her. She waits until he is asleep and then she will climb up the bunk beds to his upper bunk. This picture was made while she was sleeping. She looks like she is smiling at me. The picture on the couch was made one day while they were both watching TV. Miss Molly thinks she is human. She is also a climber. I often find her on top of the curtain rod looking down at us. Her other favorite spot is on top of the refrigerator. Nikolai is really lucky to have such a sweet, easy going kitty of his very own!

Welcome Anna

My friend Sara had gotten a kitten from her future mother-in-law to give to another friend. The other friend backed out and left Sara with the kitten. Sara's daughter and future husband are both allergic to cats. She asked me if I would take this little kitten, only 8 weeks old. How could I turn her down?
Anna is a beautiful Siamese mix. She is very social. Last night I woke up to her being in bed with me. I don't know how such a tiny kitten could climb such a big bed. She also had a accident last night on my bed. I woke up to a warm liquid on my legs. I don't know how her little bladder held so much liquid! Oh well, my sheets and mattress pad needed changing anyway. :) The boys adore her so much that I have to tell them to put her down. Anna adores my husband. She will follow him around. Silly little kitten - she doesn't know that she will be my cat in a few weeks!

My Camellia Blooms

My camellia bushes are on the verge of bursting into glorious bloom - that is unless frost comes tonight and kills the little buds. I took a picture of a few of the blooms I carried into the house. Any flower, in my house, is subject to kitty cats who have much, too much curiosity!
Sam, who is always ready for a photo opportunity, posed very nicely for me to take his picture! This cat is has a BIG ego! :-) But, he's really cute!

Welcome Sam

This is Sam, Deniska's new kitten. He is 3 months old and very playful and loving. He will never replace Izzy with me, but his personality is sweet. He unrolled every yarn ball I had the night before last. We had yarn all over the house! Deniska is thrilled to have a brand new kitten! He is still unsure who he belongs to - this morning it is Dennis!

Izzy

It's no secret that Blogs are all over the Internet and are offering a glimpse into the lives of all sorts of people - including Martha. Izzy, my precious kitten, has decided that Martha's blog is his favorite and reads it before I get a chance to every day!

Speaking of Izzy, he has been under the weather for the past several weeks. I took him to one vet who dismissed my concerns and sent him home with a cat laxative and charged me $32 to tell me that nothing was wrong. As Izzy lost weight, became more lethargic, and couldn't use the bathroom, I became more concerned. I then called my another vet and took Izzy to see him today. Dr. Moore felt that Izzy has some parasites in his large intestines. He gave him a really good exam, loaded me up with medicine for the baby, and sent me home ($235 later!) Yes, you read that right - $235! In contrast, I went by the drugstore to pick up my medicine and it was $4. Perhaps I would have been better off to take Izzy to my doctor! :-) Regardless, Izzy is worth the money and I hope he is soon feeling better. I would be so sad if something happened to him. He sleeps on top of my face every night and has not left my side since my mother died. Izzy is very sensitive to my moods.
